Projects

Take a look at an in-depth breakdown of some of our recent projects.

Ground Work and Timber Shuttering

After the initial dig-out of this 95 square metre project - made easier with the help of a conveyer belt - ground levels were established using laser levels. With careful consideration of finished head height, ground conditions, and footing depth, timbers were hung around the perimeter of the basement.

Not only does this act as a shuttering, creating a preformed gully for our perimeter drainage channels to sit in, it also allows us to have a datum in every room, ensuring the quality and flatness of the slab.

The ground was finally levelled through with a thin layer of grit sand to ensure the correct thickness throughout the slab.

A layer of visqueen was installed to act as a curing membrane.

Sheets of A393 reinforced steel mesh were laid down and tied together.

The sump chamber was dug and concreted in, with the lid level to the top of the timber shuttering, and soon to be level with the top of the structural slab.

Cavity Drainage Membrane System

A few days after the structural slab has been laid, the perimeter timbers are popped out, leaving a preformed gully for the plastic drainage channels to fit into. A floor sealer is also applied to the entire slab.

Once the wall membrane is installed, the channels are cleaned out, the plastic channels are then dropped in and packed in tight with Pea Gravel. This allows the water to flow efficiently. Jetting access is also installed to allow for a yearly maintenance service.

The next step is the floor membrane, rolled out, cut in, and taped up with expert precision.

Finally the twin pumps and high level alarm are installed in the chamber, which we will be back annually to service.

Breaking out existing sacrificial screed on this  195 square metre failed Type A basement

Insulation and under floor heating pipes removed. Concrete broke up and failed swimming pool exposed

The old jablite insulation was removed after the reinforced slab was broke out

New jablite insulation was installed, along with steel mesh re barred into the existing concrete slab. New concrete was poured flush with the existing slab.

Timbers were then hung around the perimeter of the basement, with a new sacrificial screed laid, creating pre-formed drainage channels for our Type C Cavity Drainage Membrane system.

Membrane was then applied to the walls and floor, with the drainage channels leading to an external sump chamber.
